Every Friday, I’ll post thought provoking discussion starters.
Tuesday was President Lincoln’s birthday and next Friday is President Washington’s birthday. In the States, this coming Monday, the 18th, is President’s Day. It’s a Federal holiday.
These two great leaders led such a long time ago. Is it still appropriate to celebrate their lives and role in America’s history? Why or why not? (Do you have children who learned about them in school? What did they learn? Do you believe it will affect them in any meaningful way?)
Why do you think no other presidents have been honored in similar ways? Do you predict any will be in the future? Why or why not? What would it take? What do your friends think?
